Cell Phone Policy
Policy
In accordance with Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) Board Policy and Ohio House Bill 250, students who bring personal cell phones or electronic devices to school are required to store them securely during the school day. This policy is intended to maintain a safe, secure, and focused learning environment that supports student achievement and engagement.
Procedures
- Students will turn in their cell phones and personal electronic devices to designated school staff upon arrival.
- Devices will be secured in a pouch and stored in a secure location throughout the school day.
- Devices will remain inaccessible during school hours.
- Students will receive their devices at the conclusion of their last class or at dismissal.
Devices Covered by This Policy
This policy applies to all non-CMSD-issued electronic devices, including but not limited to:
- Cell phones
- Smartwatches
- Tablets and iPads
- Headphones
- Earbuds
Parent Communication During Emergencies
If you need to contact your child during the school day, please call the main office at 216-838-6000. School staff will ensure that important messages are delivered promptly.
